After sleeping on this bed for a week, we have decided it is a good bed for us. We would recommend it to others who want a bed for two people that 1) looks like household furniture and not a hospital bed; 2) provides mechanical assistance for a user like my husband, who has Parkinson's Disease and needs help getting in and out of bed; 3)includes a footboard, for reasons I'll mention below.
We would add a few caveats for potential buyers.
Delivery may not occur within the 4-7 day estimate on the DMESuperstore website. We ordered May 27, but the manufacturer, AdAstra, didn’t ship the bed until June 25, and our delivery with white glove assembly didn't occur until July 6. We are still waiting for delivery of a set of fitted sheets and mattress protectors ordered at the same time.
Fortunately, customized sheets did come with the bed, although this was not advertised on the DMESuperstore website. Standard sheets will not fit, because there are four separate mattresses, each of which requires its own fitted sheet in a non-standard size. For a top layer we are using only a lightweight summer quilt to minimize the number of things that need to be moved out of the way whenever the bed rotates.
Pillows and pillowcases are not included with this bed. Any pillows used at the head will fall when the bed goes through its rotation, unless you apply Velcro strips or other devices to keep them in place.
Four of the bed legs we received were not like the ones shown on the website, i.e. straight or with casters (an option the user manual says can be added later.) These four legs were h-shaped. The video instructions from AdAstra said they were for the bottom of the bed frame, and the hump of the h on each was to be installed facing outward (for greater stability, presumably). Our technician Deshawn from WSR found it impossible to install the two middle legs that way, so he installed them humps inwards. He then installed the outer legs with humps outward, but that meant those humps protruded beyond the bed frame and created a nasty tripping hazard. We asked him to switch the outer legs so they’d face inward instead, and he did. We e-mailed Alex at DMESuperstore to ask whether switching the legs would affect the warranty for the bed. He contacted AdAstra and they said it would not, so Alex put a note to that effect in our purchase record at DMESuperstore.
The bed itself is working well for us so far. The memory foam mattresses are very firm, which is good for my husband, who has difficulty turning on or getting up from a soft mattresses. I have previously preferred softer mattresses, but after a week I’ve found a way to adjust the bed with the remote so I am able to sleep as well as before.
My husband and I are both 6' tall. The bed is rated for people 5’11” at most, even though the distance between the headboard and footboard is a full 79.5". So far we’ve noticed only two slight problems related to our excessive height. We have to leave more clearance at the sides of the bed to avoid hitting our feet on the wall or furniture when we use the rotation feature. We are having to rearrange the furniture in our small bedroom because of this. I’ve also found I don’t sleep well with my feet hanging off the end of the upper mattress when its lower part is elevated, so I have to keep that flat for sleeping. I can still raise the head of the mattress, however, and so far that's been enough to keep me comfortable.
The armrests are positioned optimally for someone using the rotation feature to get in or out of bed. Unfortunately they block anyone NOT using the rotation feature from getting in or out. Since I don’t necessarily want to rotate every time, I wish the armrest had been designed to be repositioned without having to be removed entirely.
The remote controls are on curly electrical cords attached to the bed. They are designed to be hooked onto the armrests while not in use. Since we are not always using the armrests, however, I wish there were another way to keep the remotes off the floor and away from the rotation mechanism.
The footboard was a necessary feature for us, because it allows me to insert a small bulletin board between it and the lower mattress, then drape our quilt over the board to keep the quilt up and off my husband’s sensitive feet. If only the footboards for this bed were higher, we wouldn’t need the bulletin board.
Overall, however, we are pleased with this purchase. I particularly appreciated all the help I received during the delivery and assembly process from Deshawn at WSR Marietta (the delivery company) and Alex at DME Superstore.
very helpful Rolls easily, and breaks work well too
I love this chair!!! It came pretty fast and works great
My husband has dementia and has difficulty walking. Hospice sent lightweight chairs her but they were not lightweight to me. Chat GPT recommended this wheel chair because of my petite size. It’s perfect for me to transport my husband. It was a breeze to assemble, looks great and I can handle the 13 pounds. Thank you for making a design such as this. I was about to give up.Now, I can take my husband out for “rolls”.
This chair is perfect. 😍 t does everything I wanted and more. Your shipping company however lacks. They sent a young man with no dolly and 400 pounds was written in the description so I knew there was trouble. My husband had to help him so I think you need to address that. But the chair could not be better.
This is our second Nova Zoom Rolling Walker. Our first is 8 years old with a lot of use. Very happy with the new one. Same great quality design and construction. Highly recommend. A little bit more expensive than other brands but worth every penny.
Arrived damaged. Contacted customer service on Monday and they said that they have filed a claim with the shipper and I have not heard back. Would like another chair but am waiting for resolution.
I was pretty much required to accept the extended warranty plan to order the wheel chair I needed to get as quickly as possible.
Excellent product handgrips foot my
Walker perfect. Fit tightly do not slip off as you yes them.
Really like it the only thing that is strange is the back seat was mounted crooked to the back
Just what I needed my new nova had a backrest I didn’t need
I did an online search for a rhythm healthcare 812 U. Your website came up with a walker offer and I thought that was what I had ordered. There was no indication in the description that it was not an 812 U walker. What I received was an 807U walker with the small wheels.
I was skeptical about this order because the USPS tracking number provided kept showing “Label created” but the item wasn’t received at the post office and to contact the sender. Several times I tried to contact sender to no avail. Therefore, I decided to check the BBB reviews and found a few complaints. Finally, the tracking number appeared in my Informed Delivery, and the package arrived. My concern is that the item wasn’t in the original packaging, no instructions provided, and no bill of sales were included.
Received this request asking me to write a review for the product I ordered from this company. It's hard to write a review when I ordered the item on June 27th and still haven't received them. Tried sending the company an email and got no response from that. I even tried calling the company twice and got no response from that. On the third try finally got someone to answer and they said it was just shipped. Here it is July 8th and still haven't received them. If I knew it was going to take this long I would not have ordered from this company.
I was just devastated about my accident that made me have the need for a walker. But this walker says everything without saying one verbal word! I love it and I’m proud when I use it every day
